  Calendar Dates & Guest Speakers

When: Thursday,  September 20, 2018
Time: 10:00 AM
Where: The Pine Crest Inn

Ellen Burke, artist, art educator and art lecturer will be our guest speaker. Her presentation will be sure to enlighten us about famous artists who also enjoy the art of gardening.
We can all agree with Ellen's own words about gardens:

"Gardens can inspire, comfort, frustrate and delight. There are many similarities in the creative process of gardening and painting. Both artist and gardener must design; creating a composition and consider balance, color, harmony, contrast and texture. In "Artists and Their Gardens" we will look artists who celebrated the tranquility and dazzling beauty of gardens in their work."

Ellen, a Pinewild resident, has 37 years teaching experience. She has taught visual art in both New York and Massachusetts serving as the Fine and Performing Arts Chair and art educator.  After retiring from public education Ellen was an adjunct professor of Art Education at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in the art education department. Since moving to Pinehurst in 2015 she has partnered with Hollyhocks Gallery to offer monthly Art Appreciation events and provide art lessons for children. Ellen finds great joy in teaching and enjoys sharing her passion for art with students of all ages.
